This should have gone for much more, hopefully the market will recover and domain sale prices will rise instead of dropping as they have been lately.
This is exactly why the current market is a fantastic, once-in-a-lifetime (?) opportunity to make huge money. You can get amazing bargains and yet end-users are paying more than ever for premium domains. When the majority of resellers understand that there are really no reason for domain names to drop in value, then it'll be too late. Buy while you can, if you can.
The previous owner was having brokers try to sell it for $1.05 million + their commission, so he actually came way down for some reason (figure $850,000 minus Moniker's cut). Regardless of WHAT was on the site, it was #1 for erotica in Google amongst a number of other things and was getting quite a lot of traffic. I too am surprised it didn't fetch more.

it is foolish to "speculate" that this would have done better at any other time.
The market speaks in real time, irregardless of economic conditions.

I completely agree with the below statement by Doc Com. The market is what it is today be it the domain market or the stock market.
Specualtion is foolish as Doc Com wisely stated "The market speaks in real time" this is what's important. Not 2005, 2012 or 1982.
There is no way to say for certain whether the current market will improve or decline further in the short or long term.
The same experts last year that stated oil was heading to $200 - $250 a barrel are the ones now saying the next stop is $20!
The Nikkei (Japan) peaked in 1990 at over 38,000 nearly 20 years later the Nikkei stands at less than half that amount they are still waiting for a recovery and have had interest rates their interest rates at 0 for years.

my whole point is whether we purchase, buy, sell, reg, or drop catch a name, from the very onset it is totally and purely 100% speculation that we are going to do better with this name now that we have it.
Sure, it is a safe bet to say some words do better but the whole concept of domaining is based on pure speculation to start with.
