Interesting! So it's a guarenteed pre-order, as they bill you instantly?

Meh, they think I'm inputting wrong credit information from 2 different cards when I'm not, and all emails I send are returned straight back undelivered.

Why do I have an overwhelming feeling that some punk kid has my credit card details?

Don't think so.....this has scam written all over it. There aren't any official registrars for .eu......this so called "registry" is listing themselves as "providers".

Note from official .eu registry site:

PLEASE NOTE THAT AT THIS TIME IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO REGISTER OR PRE-REGISTER A .EU DOMAIN NAME WITH EURid AND THERE ARE NO ACCREDITED REGISTRARS FOR .EU.
    source: http://www.eurid.org/

    Also note:

It is not yet possible to register or pre-register a .eu domain name with EURid

We cannot take reservations or pre-registrations for .eu names.
Before starting the registrations for the .eu TLD a number of important steps still need to be taken.

On 12 October 2004, EURid will sign a contract with the European Commission to operate the .eu registry After that EURid must negotiate with ICANN (the not-for-profit organisation overseeing the DNS system) to have .eu included in the DNS root servers.

When we have signed the EC contract, we will establish a network of registrars across Europe and will publish a list on our web site. Those who wish to register a .eu name must apply through one of these registrars as we are not permitted to take direct registration requests. We will also begin to make important information and documents available in all the official languages of the EU.

Once .eu registrars are accredited they will be allowed to accept pre-registrations for their customers. At the start of the live registrations, they will introduce their pre-registrations in the automated systems of EURid for processing.

Man, I'd be so p*ssed if that was a scam as I entered some details too.

Someone told me it was all legit and everything.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it appears there's nothing legitimate about this little known .eu "provider".

Here's a rather misleading claim right off the bat.....

Do I have to be an EU citizen/organisation/company?
No. You can register a .EU domain through .EU Registry Services wherever you are based.
That's not what the official registry states.....

The following categories of companies, organisations and individuals will be able to register a .eu domain:

    -undertakings having their registered office, central administration or principal place of business within the European Community;
    -organisations established within the European Community without prejudice to the application of national law;
-natural persons resident within the European Community.
Not surprised this type of .eu nonsense is taking place, just two years ago this type of fiasco was rampant.
Strange how history repeats itself......makeshifts like this are a black eye to the industry IMO.

Their LiveHelp guy told me they've been taking registrations for over a year ...

I guess I'm lucky that the transaction wouldn't go through.

Hi, we preregister for free already since a long time w/o a waranty.
We will also become an accredited registrar, as soon it is possible.
Please remember that there will be also two (2) sunrise periodes for trademarkowners. More details here:
    http://www.eurodns.com/preregister/euinfo.php
Please never pay money for a preregistration, for Documenthandling during the sunriseperiode you can accept a fee but not for the preregistration. For all that really need or want a .eu should preregister somewhere, for example at www.EuroDNS.com to stay up2date whats going on. The .eu will be very strong worldwide, it is really historical! Europe is now a big Zone for nice business without borders, with the .eu there will be an identity for complete Europe in the Internet.

Re: .EU gets 2005 go ahead

Why do people keep falling for the .eu pre-registry scam?
Sure tell a third party what names are valuable to you, good idea.

Also remember .eu requires a presense in Europe.
You won't see it live until very late 2005 or even early 2006.

If it's ready by the winter holiday season in 2005 I'll be amazed.
    The bureaucracy is absolutely staggering.

Re: .EU gets 2005 go ahead

Given the current time line, my guess is 2006 at the earliest for .EU to go live.

The sunrise process alone is a long, drawn out affair - to be done in two phases over 4 months.

Could be possible that it take longer, up to 2006. But the DN-industry is awaiting it, and we support Eurid where ever we can. They need to translate the rules to all European Languages, all countries need to agree to the rules,... Thats for sure a desaster.

You have already a presence in Europe for your Domain-Names? Or are you Registrar?

you would wonder if it would happen earlier...
they are really hard working on it, as soon the registrars can become accredited the dollars will role because then we can ask money for checking the trademarks, and if the dollars role all will go quicker...

50 grumpy old men don't care if the dollars will roll, they just want to see fireworks in heaven. I'm serious.
