FullTiltPoker.com - sued to seize the name as well as 100 other gaming addresses

J. Michael Brown, Kentucky’s governor-appointed secretary for justice, has in the past sued to seize FullTiltPoker.com and more than 100 other internet addresses, arguing that the domain names were gambling devices that could be forfeited under state law. Mr Brown won the initial round in that suit and has been battling in appellate courts since then.

The owners being so public is really starting to bite them in the ass now. Seems like they get sued or have legal problems every other week. PokerStars has managed to avoid most of this while operating in the US and being much, much larger than Full Tilt. The owners are the absolute definition of low key.

I don't get why the US doesn't allow online poker sites. The money they could be making off of it is huge. But of course the same goes for allowing casinos as well. Would give more jobs and everything..

It's a public safety thing, protecting people from themselves. I don't agree with it but that is their rationale. That and the fact that they don't see a dime of that money and its billions of dollars a year leaving the US for island nations.

The government is a slow moving beast - there are a number of different fronts working to have it licensed and regulated in the US and eventually it probably will be - when that takes place is anybody's guess. I hope it is sooner rather than later, I have thousands of lifetime revenue share players signed up at PartyPoker who can only play play money right now :(

That is my retirement plan if this ever works out.

It isnt legal in Canada either, except the gov is wising up now and introducing provincially owned online sites through their lottery corp!

If they really cared about humanity they'd make other things illegal but those other things bring in huge tax dollars so until they figure out how to manage that for online poker its illegal....or they care about us

Its all about tax dollars going offshore, at least that is my understanding. Though I guess they should make oil illegel as exxon made 45 billion last year and paid no taxes because, surprise, surprise, they have offshore accounts too.

I feel ya Poker Pie. I started doing poker affiliation about a year before they changed the rules. However, I did the single signup which now I am glad that I did otherwise I would be in the same boat. Revenue overtime is better but I only ran traffic for about 3 months like that before it was shut down and just started making money. Now I am lucky to clear $200 off it a month.

Actually, this action was brought about by the Casino Operators and owners. They put pressure on the US regulators as the brick and mortar casinos were getting their butts kicked by online casinos.

Amazingly (NOT!) it did nothing to regulate horse and dog tracks in the country. Plus, the law still allows for placing bets online for sporting and other events.

Depending on how many players youre pushing per month, you can actually work on a monthly retainer with most affiliate managers of poker companies for a long term view to poker being opened back up to the operators. A word to the wise, if you run a partypoker affiliate, you could really be looking at several long long years before their let back into the USA!

A secondary option would be to team up with a power affiliate already working in the states, to drive conversions to him and get a cut of his action instead. Probably the most credible option imo.

It personally wouldn’t surprise me if they removed all cookies and history once online gambling fully opens in America to all operators, leaving affiliates out to dry.
