    I personally don't think it's a downgrade exactly.

    I think as domaining is expanding into other areas.
    There's IDNs there are ccTLDs

    even though IDNs will start getting used more this year
    ccTLDs like co.uk, .de, .cn, .jp all have extremely high end user use.

    I don't think they're on the downgrade either. They are the creme de la creme of domains. However i believe some domains have peaked as there is limited useage & the market doesn't lie. It just wasn't a big night for .coms, with exception of cameras, that's all.
    I must say, the whole IDN thing is insanity IMO! LOL
