I doubt it will have much of an effect for either party. But China is probabaly glad - more people going to Chinese registrars for them so the money stays inside the country.

Good move but China probably doesn't care much. Their internal market is big enough.

I read an article 2 months ago that the .CN sales got axed in half. Alot of Chinese people are going for .com now. Easier to obtain one.
And keep in mind that even tho China has a huge population it is only a small portion of that population that is active on the internet.
People will stop registering .CN domain
.CN and .com had a nice fight being mostly registerd domain
Now it will come to an end
