I hope GoDaddy has improved this protection. It cost me 2 LLL .com domains.

I got a heads up on this new product from GoDaddy.
Seems that Godaddy is raising the bar on most of their services.
If I had a $xxx, xxx.xx domain I would consider this option.

My 5-year old daughter needs a kidney transplant. Contact me if you're willing to join a potential donor pool.
So you paid $24.99 for each doamin and lost them both?

I don't understand why security is not default on domains. They say you'll be unsafe if your registry is open to public and it is not default you have to pay extra for that.
İf it is not secure why it is open ??
GoDaddy and other registrars have good secure domain locking options.
99.99% of the time your domain will not get ripped off by most scams.
But someone will always find a way to get something that does not belong to them (rip it off another)
The new service is not just a preventive measure to secure your domain from ripoffs, it also provides a service for the busy world.
Lots of things can happen when you have to much to do these days.

Until biometric-locking is implemented, no method will be 100% secure.
I agree with Acroplex
also i think the private registration if Im correct changes the ownership of the domain to the registar, if thats true, i dont like that.

Well, I figured I would pop in here since I run GoDaddy's Aftermarket.
I can tell you I am getting a service started in the new year that will completely lock down a domain and still make it easy to transfer in and out of Godaddy should you make a sale.
I have many new things planned for 2008 for Godaddy and DNF.
-=DCG=-
Gasp! Adam is the $6 million DNF dollar man![]()
A guy sends an email complain, GoDaddy releases my info without any valid claim or court order. Said individual then proceeds to hijack my domains under false pretenses (actually used my old mailing address which was my parents house).
So, now I've recovered one of the domains but I'm still working on recovering the other since it has been moved to a different registrar.
I'm glad ADAM is at GoDaddy now. It gives me hope for the rest of my domains.Keep up the good work.
My 5-year old daughter needs a kidney transplant. Contact me if you're willing to join a potential donor pool.
Cool, I'm glad I started using them as a registrar now. Hopefully none of my domains will get stolen.![]()
Save the wolves - join The Wolf Army today!
Please follow the rules or suffer the wrath of Thor's Hammer.
I think I heard something about this. Trouble is GoDaddy will now charge you "EXTRA" for this security when it is really just their job in the first place. Just like the privacy issue.
I just can't help but feeling that it is the protection you pay to the bully so he won't steal your lunch money

$24.99/yr. to keep my domain if I forget to renew it.
Locking is supposed to secure your domain.
Seems to me to be a fear tactic. Kind of like the Patriot act and invading Iraq.
I guess the benefits need to be explained a little bit more thoroughly.
Why is this better than locking?
Is the GoDaddy security really that poor that they need something else.
Or is this another way for Parsons to clean up some more millions of dollars.
I just can't justify the price' Over 3X the reg. price. Just doesn't make sense.
Why not just add 3 yrs. to my registration and lock my domains for the same price? Then I will have 3 yrs to remember and save $50 to boot.

So GoDaddy thinks security is a way to make money and not something that should be provided automatically for the priviledge to have me as their customer. Figures.
I dont work at Go Daddy or will I try to defend them.
I have provided some news to help some one feel less stress![]()
also, this was my first post at DNF.
1. What extra protection does Deadbolt Transfer Protection service provide over regular domain locking?
Answer: Regular domain locking occurs at the registry level. With Deadbolt Transfer Protection, an additional lock is placed on your domain, within our system.
2. How does the Expiration Protection work?
Answer: If your domain expires, we hold it for up to one year, in an inactive status. To renew it, you simply need to pay the renewal fee.
3. What part of Protected Registration is Exclusive, Don't all registrars have some type of High Security ?
Answer: Most registrars do not offer this type of constant domain monitoring and protections features.
About #2.
If I forget to pay my reg fee. I probably also forgot to pay my whatda ya callit $24.99 fee.
So I would lose my domain anyway. It still makes no sense to the customer. But a lot of $sense$ to B.P.
