Arrow Help our Industry by contacting Paypal and having them help us!

With all the scammers and problems domain owners have and with any intangable items (virtual products, downloads, selling web sites, domain names etc) paypal does not provide fraud protection!

We can make a difference and join as a force and let Paypal know, we as a community do large amounts of transactions with them and we want to be covered!

Please contact Paypal via there Feedback system and tell them you want a special/new service (intangible escrow) to cover virtual products!

    Leave Feedback Here
You can also visit www.paypal.com and scroll to the bottom of the page and click Site Feedback. It's a general form, but will work!

I was just on a phone call with paypal for 1 hour and 20 minutes and expressed they need to catch up with current times and offer protection for sellers of virtual products. Please help in joining together and submitting as much feedback as we can, so paypal can offer an intangible escrow service to help protect domain owners and sellers of virtual products.

I strongly expressed, that domain name transfers/pushes are more easily tracked then the UPS packages they cover now! There is no reason why Registrar's can not work with paypal, as well as sellers to provide strong proof of a push or transfer of a domain name!

If you use paypal for buying or selling domain names or any intangible item and are sick and tired of not being covered, please submit your feedback and ask for a intangible escrow service to provide protection on your virtual items!

A very simple note like this will do the trick.

I offer domain names for sale, and use paypal for several transaction. Their is a massive amount of fraudulent transaction daily done using paypal for intangible items. Currently there is NO protection for a domain name seller or any intangible item seller. I strongly suggest you offer an intangible escrow service so intangible sellers have protection using paypal to prevent charge backs along with other action.

    Hope this helps!

Sent, and close to the max:

Right now I would not recommend PayPal to a friend for my industry. I buy, sell, and trade domains and right now PayPal does NOT offer any protection for buyers or sellers (since you do not cover virtual products).

This is a growing industry and PayPal has the potential to be a primary source of transactions for this industry but with the lack of protection on PayPal's part, people use other methods of payment.

Domaining is a multi-million dollar industry (under estimate). Even if a fraction of the transactions are done though PayPal that is still tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars that PayPal is missing out on transaction fees.

Domainers need protection for their investments, too many get paid though PayPal, transfer the domain only to have the buyer claim fraud and get their money back AND keep the domain (usually the buyer is a relatively new PayPal member and the seller is a long term member).

Brilliant idea. Now if only PayPal would listen and act

what's extraordinary is that Paypal was founded by a South African yet South Africans can only Send money but not receive money.

    That sucks

Thanks Jamie + Ed for enlisting other domainers to help make changes in this industry.<<<

Something NEEDS to be done concerning the mass amount of fraud in this industry, and the way payment processors and domain registrars enable it due to inaction on their part.

I sent the request message to PP via a contact form from my account at PP about these changes they need to make concerning "Intangible Goods". (have an open issue with them, see link below)

    (Thread)

Our industry is huge. I would like to see some of the big players in this industry join in with the rest of us, to help make proactive changes regarding these issues.

I just sent this message through PayPal's customer service system. (That may work better than the "feedback" page you are using, which is probably for comments about the web page rather than about their policies.)

"I buy and sell domains. PayPal provides no protection against common fraud schemes - for example, someone making a chargeback after they have received the domain.

Last year, I paid PayPal about $1,500 in fees. But with the increase in scammers, I don't feel safe using PayPal. I will be using alternate payment methods (such as Moneybookers) as much as possible, unless PayPal increases its protection for sellers of intangible goods."

Keep up the good fight ...
    Dave

Though I do not use them, and prefer Moneybookers as a safer gateway for online payment, I sent them a letter. Nice initiative Jamie.
