Update: About 45,000 Americans live there...most have not been heard from...at least 4,000+ have been found dead...as of: 5:00pm PST...Jan 13.

I did this for Hurricane Katrina and The Virgina Tech Shootings. (So did A Couple Others Here)

Please Register one domain or more and then "Redirect It" to a legitimate Charity or direct help site.

This does Four things:

#1, Keep's the domains out of "Scammers" hands...

#2. Gets extra traffic for help for Haiti Earthquake Victims and Their Family's

#3. If your thinking about..."scamming" think twice...as if your a member here...you KNOW you will be "Found Out". (besides its just not right...Do the Right Thing Please!)

#4. Helps show the world that domainer's...are NOT scammer's...we are normal, helpful, caring people.

I strongly encourage everyone to do this, we've all seen what happened after 911, Katrina, V-tech and others, that small percentage of domainers who have no problem profiting off a tragedy, profiting off other peoples grief, No problem dragging the Domain industry through the mud in hopes of making a buck, Let's try to nip this one in the bud..

On the Virgina Tech deal a couple years ago...a member here spent over $500+ on domains...I spent about $75.00

We both redirected them back to a page Virgina Tech had set up for donations.

One domainer over at NP got...a domain that was getting almost 2k unique's a day....we all had to kinda "shame him" into doing the "right thing"...but after he did...he was grateful we got on him a bit.

His decision...might have been helped a long a bit.... when "reporters" started calling and showing up at his house...LOL

Rob..thanks for your help also.....I know it will help a great deal....Much more than if we just donate Ten or Twenty dollars to whomever....

Hi,

Looks like the "Hollywood Crowd"...is going to hold a: "Haiti Telethon"....

Unfortunately...no matter how much they get when the do these things...usally less than 25% of whats donated, actually gets to where it is needed....you know: "Overhead" ~ Administration cost" ~ "Food & Drinks" Etc....

I think the first "live aid" concert...after all was said and done. an independent firm detrermined that only like 17% of the money rasied....went to where it was suppose to help people.

"Hollywood" is like our government...when it comes to using "other peoples money"!

Lots of good ideas here. One idea I have not seen mentioned yet, but I will personally be doing, is donating 10% of the net proceeds from any domain that I may sell in 2010 to various legit charities supporting the Haitian relief efforts.

Thanks Dan, BTW in a way domain names helped me be what I am on youtube, cause the most viewed video is about "utube.com" suing youtube, and now when you search google for utube.com, my video is the top search result, so I have had good success with this, and became a part of YouTube's Partner Program to have adsense on my videos, and get a monthly check from a video, which does not require a "renewal fee"! So making use of video sites like this does have it's advantages. Currently I am not far from 2 and a half million views on youtube (total).
