Lightbulb Internet's Universality Faces Threat (WSJ 1/19)

Uncomfortable with U.S. government's involvement in the Internet, other countries are clamoring for more control and some are setting up their own rival Internets, raising fears that global interconnectivity will be diminished.

Re: Internet's Universality Faces Threat (WSJ 1/19)

We, I can't read the article, but I have read similar articles about this subject for awhile.

This would be the dumbest things for a country to do. They would be literally annexing themselves from the rest of the world. And last time I checked, there isn't one country that is totally self-sufficent.

I know that a lot of this comes down to is them being able to use, and control their own domains and use their own language. But that will very soon happen with the complete implementation of idn's.

It would be internet economic suicide for a country to actually do this stunt
