Post Moniker and SnapNames Selected to Auction Slots.com....

    Hi,

Moniker and SnapNames Selected to Auction Slots.com--Crown Jewel Domain Name of the Gaming Industry

The owner of Slots.com announced today that they have chosen Moniker® (www.moniker.com) and SnapNames® (www.SnapNames.com), both Oversee.net® companies, to manage the highly anticipated auction for Slots.com.

May 04, 2010 05:53 PM Eastern Daylight Time

LONDON--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--This showcase auction will feature Slots.com exclusively. The auction starts online May 5, 2010 at noon US Eastern time and ends May 12, 2010 at 3:15 p.m. US Eastern time. For more information contact: monte@moniker.com and johnm@moniker.com, 1.800.688.6311 ext. 3531 and 3536.

"We are excited that the industry’s leading domain name auction companies - Moniker and SnapNames, have agreed to manage this online auction. Their innovative technology platform and reputation for excellence provide a safe, secure and reliable bidding process," said Christina Renee, communications manager at Slots.com.

The auction for Slots.com has garnered considerable interest in the casino industry with potential bidders lining up in anticipation of the auction. With slot games accounting for as much as 70% of casino revenue, this domain name auction will be one of the most followed gaming domain auctions this year.

"This auction provides a rare opportunity to acquire a domain name that is a perfect match for one of the most popular games in the gaming space," noted Monte Cahn, the founder of Moniker. “We are very pleased to offer businesses and investors a unique opportunity to participate in a vertical that has consistently grown year-over-year.”

Cahn’s comments are supported by a recent H2 Gambling Capital study: “The total value of the global eGaming market rose from US$23.5billion in 2008 to US$26.6billion in 2009. H2 now believes that its value will increase to US$36.5billion by 2012.”

Domain name auctions have proven to be an effective vehicle in determining the market value of a domain name. In the gambling space, the highest recorded sales to date have been Casino.com for $5.5 million in 2003 and the Gambling.com domain name and portal sale for $19.8 million in 2005.

    Oversee.net’s Aftermarket and Registrar Division

Comprised of Moniker ®and SnapNames®, Oversee's Aftermarket and Registrar Division offers businesses and individual investors an array of services for domain name registration, acquisition, management, appraisal, brokerage and sales. im almost certain this will come down to how badly 888 wants this from party casino. I know 888 acquired alot of generic names recently under anonymous management, i also happen to know party casino is in trouble and not meeting their financial Real money player targets... only real winner here is the seller, i hope the reserve is at least $1.5 million on this!

oh my bad, i didn’t read the news feed properly, i assumed this was going to be one of the domains auctioned at the igamingsupershow where moniker was auctioning gambling domains, seems slightly odd this auction couldn’t wait till then!

The .com brand of Slots is a big name. I can see this auction meeting and exceeding the reserve.

Why? Because slots and sex go together? I kid.

Seriously though, this is obviously one of the most premium gambling domains there are, and it will be interesting to see how a domain like this will sell right now, thinking back to when Poker.com was rumored to be selling for $23 million and at the time, someone I knew who was one of the interested buying parties of it indicated it was likely going to be millions more if a deal was reached. "Slots" is certainly no "poker" but still...should fetch a pretty penny.

Confusingly, what they call 'Slot' Machines in the US, we call 'Poker' Machines (commonly called, 'the Pokies') in Australia....But, we also call the card game, 'Poker'...well....'Poker', too...

So, for us, Poker.com would mean both/either Slots & Card games - whereas 'Slots.com' would mean very little to the average punter here...

....Divided only by our common language, eh...?...

But.....I CAN assure our friends in the US that SEX does mean sex in Australia, as well......

lol, you call slot machines for poker machines? Even if they don't have anything to do with the actual game/variants of poker? Now that's funny.
