this is no coincidence, mp3.com has been spiralling towards oblivion for awhile now. F*ckedCompany regularly posts messages about the terrible financial shape the company is in.
MP3.com was bought by Vivendi in Frace 2 years ago.. The downward spiral started then. . . Would have been hilarious if the dropped.

In my opinion, it would have never dropped..
THey cant have thier site down for 15 days+ and not renew the domain unless they trully dont care.

It looks from that article that the domain which (nearly) dropped wasn't actually mp3.com itself, but actually mp3s.com, which is a (Stupid, Unnecessary) domain name used for some things like individual artist sites associated with mp3.com. If they'd put those sites in a logical subdomain of mp3.com instead of a different domain for no good reason, they wouldn't have had a problem with their subsites "expiring".
Vivendi itself is not so healthy...
Didn't the silverspoon third generation Bronfmans have something to do with Vivendi?
They know how to lose a fortune!! LOL
Oh, that isn't the only name they have let slip. Im watching one now.
