I followed the link to the article and then the one to BuyDomains. I was surprised to see BuyDomains providng domain registration at $16 per year. Same price for transfers.

Pricey given the prevalence of sub-$10 registrations, but generally on par for those companies that cater to a one time domain buyer, small company, etc. Actually, that would be BuyDomains' target audience.
