GoDaddy sent me this message after my order:
Does that mean I will get my money back if I lose those domain names? If your application is verified and the name is uncontested, the domain name will appear in your GoDaddy.com, Inc. account with no further action required on your part.
If, however, your application is verified and there are other applicants for the name, you will be invited to participate in an auction for the name.
My question to GoDaddy:
When I purchase a .me domain name and the domain is pre registered by someone else as well and I don't win the auction, do I get my $50 back?
There response:
Thank you for contacting online support.
If the domain registration of the .ME domain in question should fail, you will be refunded for the cost of the registration.
I would suspect that if GoDaddy doesn't get it for you they will give you your money back...that's their policy with their expired domain auctions. The current owner has a few days to re-claim their domain. If they reclaim you get your money back. And I've actually gotten my money back from Godaddy on a few domains.

I have a feeling there might be two things here: a pre-application fee and a registration fee. You might get only part of your $50 back. I think they need to be more clear on this otherwise I'm not investing.
