    * Now you can transfer .WS name away from the existing registrar *

According to Website.ws, you now can transfer .ws name away from the existing registrar.

    http://website.ws/faq/index.dhtml

Can I transfer my domain to another registrar?

Yes, .WS domain transfers may take place in accordance with the "GDI Transfer Policy". Please contact the registrar you would like to transfer to for instructions on how to proceed.

Good information Johnn. It may help the .ws market. Surprising the old rule was in place at all. One of the reasons I only have one .ws name is that you were forced to stay with the same registrar no matter what or regardless of the renewal fee.

Good news, I have been asking them for years to implement this.

The only way to do it in the past was to be a Registerfly customer with a .ws domain and get it moved over to GoDaddy when regfly went belly up.

The price of ws names should go up by this news.

I bought many names from $10-$20 and wait for this news to sell at $20K a piece.

Not all registrars are ready for this but they should be soon if they want the business.

Now, if they would just get rid of the silly pricing for domains with less than four letters and ditch
the gold chain, snake oil advertising, someone might take this extension half serious.

I have actually had a few hits to a couple of my .ws parking pages the past several days. Perhaps there are folks expecting an increase in interest as well.

I had 40 .ws till today, today I picked up laon.ws for obvious reasons.

My parking revenue from .ws has been surprisingly good. A lot better than .mobi/.info but then my .ws names have better keywords.

I do see prices rising but still don't see $10 names hitting $20k anytime soon, though its already happening for some other tlds.

    Johnn,
May be it's time to create a sub forum for .ws under
Domains for sale (ccTLD and sTLD Domain Sales) http://www.dnforum.com/f355/
    and
    TLD Discussion http://www.dnforum.com/f162/

What style! This is what you call good old fashioned momentum.

Always felt .ws got a raw deal (what shame!), maybe it will start getting some of it's due. Ironically, I only have a few, though.

Sweet. Thanks for giving it the old college try. .WS should not be felt to be a threat to one's investment in .com, but I think any increase in awareness and popularity for it would probably only see .com enhanced. Translation: there's nothing to fear from .ws and no need for the continual lashing out against it you so often find in other threads. Same goes for .cc.

    Wishing success, and waxing sober,

Does anyone know if you can transfer a .WS from their own site website.ws which charges $35/yr as compared to the much cheaper renewal rates elsewhere? How are transfers handled if Godaddy is listing their information in the whois data? Hopefully I can get rid of all these isolated wild west reseller accounts.

I was able to transfer out of both Website.ws & enom.com to godaddy.com
