    Arrow Big mistake.....

In my opinion should this sale not go through the seller has made a huge mistake! The ONLY reason I can see that the bidding has gotten this high is due to the hype and media attention left over from the Pizza.com sale. This hype will not last forever.

The highest reported sales I can find for a dot net are:

    Sex.net $454,500 in a 2006 Traffic Auction and Porn.net $400,000 just this year.

The current bid is more than double the $400,000 porn.net sale. The generic word Pizza, premium yes but not in the league of Sex or Porn dot .net

Pizza.info equally would not be where it is at now $18,750 if not for the recent sale and media attention surrounding Pizza.com if this was the true market value without the Pizza.com sale then I should easily be able to get $5,000 plus for Calamari.info which I do not think is realistic at this time.

It is a shame if this ends at say $950,000 and the reserve is not met as it would be a great dot net sale that never happened and will not happen with a keyword such as Pizza for years to come.
The seller has the right to set the reserve where ever he/she pleases but I think it is a huge mistake to pass up on this opportunity at this time on this particular domain.

Again just my thoughts and input.

There are no formulas for the calculation of the .net value form the respective .com value.

"Pizza" is used in many languages. For example in Germany, the consumers do not care if the domain name is a .com or .net, it does not make a difference, unless it is a .de. Same in many other European countries.

Any non-US pizza chain could use names like pizza.net and pizza.info. Of course, it is quite expensive for resellers. (It could be used even in the U.S., pizza.net, easy to remember and shorter than .info.)

These numbers are nuts... It must be fake?

My scenario: Seller sets up an abnormally high reserve so he and his friends can afford to shill bid high, without actually having to show any money. News eventually hits the media and/or potential buyers, however, since the reserve is so high, sale doesn't go through. After that, another auction is set up, however this time with potential buyers under the influence of the last quasi auction, assuming it's actually worth high $xxx, xxx. "Nice" tactics to bring in some attention and possibly ensure a higher sale than it would be otherwise possible...

    Pizza is hot.

After seeing this signature, I realized I didn't even check if I own a pizza name.
Turns out I own PizzaStore.com. That should be worth $50K.

I don't think Afternic has been hit with pizza shilling yet. Maybe they would be a better choice.

If Chinese.info and Christian.info hit last summer 37k and 35k accordingly, why do you think Pizza.info should go times lower??
