Exactly, and that is the same with any domain in any extension, not just .info or .com.

Premium, generic names in any extension will stay valuable and potentially become much more so, but low quality names will never have value. Not in 3 years, 5 years, 10 years or 50 years.

.info will *never* make it bigtime into the public's awareness.

The public will always prefer and remember the cc tld - simple as that.

And i'm saying that *although* i'm from Germany where .info is probably used more than anywhere and although my main design site is a .info and although i'm selling .info names.

Btw - everytime i tell someone ("from the street") what my domain is people look at me in a strange kind of way as if they were thinking i had a desease or something (translated= most joe publics have never heard of an extension like .info).

You say one thing but do another. :greenconfusedw:

There are many examples of where the public did not know about something a year ago
and today it is known by just about everyone.

.com will always be king (it kills me to say that). But, other extensions will continue to expand and have value since more people are using the internet.

This example has been given many times. Think of a major city and look at the
occupied property. Downtown is .com and the other extensions are as you move
    further into the suburbs.

And, the prime words or letters would be the same as the land next to the main
expressway as you move outward. They will always have value as more people
    move in that direction.

The internet addresses should remain strong for the next 10 yrs. A lot could
    happen after that.

And, yes. I occasionally reg and catch quality .infos. And, I will continue for the near future.

Kind of yes, but that's why i said "although"..

It's like, yes at the moment my main portfolio site i a .info but just because of the keyword in front of it.

You bet the moment i see a .de or .com with the same or similar keyword in front becoming available for sale/reg i'll switch to that within a blink of an eye.

In short, my .info name is just a temporary compromise until i find a "real" domain (in fact, that's one reason why my site has a "temporary portfolio" headline).

I could imagine i'm not alone with that "solution" and just the fact i'm using a .info doesn't mean i think it's the *best* solution.

Re: Sedo thinks .info may eclipse .net as the No 2 TLD

I just noticed this intersting situation:

Loans.com is owned by Bank of America
Loans.net is lightly developed for Google Adsense
    Loans.info is a parked page

Makes since really. .Com is worthy of a bigtime end user. .Net is worthy of a developed site and .Info is worth parking.

Re: Sedo thinks .info may eclipse .net as the No 2 TLD

I'm looking at .info this way - I'm building sites right now using high paying keywords. To buy the domains in .com, or .ca would cost me $200 minimum for each domain name. I need over 80 domains to complete what I am doing.

I'm not going to fork out that much cash when I can get .info's for my need hopefully at fresh reg or off auctions/sales for a fraction of the upfront cost. With proper SEO they will rank as high, I don't accumulate heavy debt to start off, and if it doesn't make money I didn't lose very much if I can't even sell the names for what I got them for.

They have their uses. Sure I would prefer to have .com's but there is no chance I would get say QuebecHotels.com for less than $500 - which is more than the other 80+ names cost me together.

Your right. If your not looking for type-ins and your not looking for the big, brandable business, one extension is just as good as another. Unless there is something I don't understand about the process.

Re: Sedo thinks .info may eclipse .net as the No 2 TLD

Thing is, i once thought as well that if you do good SEO then the extension doesn't matter in terms of ranking in Google so why not take goodkeyword + .info/.cc/.biz/whatever, SEO it and that's it.

But it seems that the extension *does* have a significance when it comes to how high you are listed in Google.

I'm no SEO expert at all, but telling from my daily observations it seems that there are only a few .info sites that rank high and are listed on top.

Same goes for .biz/.cc etc so i doubt one would achieve the same results with these extensions in comparison with cno/cc tld.

Google is TLD agnostic, the only exception is geo targeting of the local cc TLD for Hosting located outside the country.

I'm seeing more .info's and .name's in the search results. And besides if you rely solely on the search engines to bring the bulk of your traffic you could be in trouble. Someone (your competitor) could very easily google-bomb your site.

Good well used backlinks from like-minded sites are what generate sales or leads.
