One that actually spell something have tremendous potential value.
others are more or less "collectible" domains.

I was having doubts for a while too but I've made a big return on my short domain investments so far. The market is becoming more and more monopolised so prices will just go up while the monopolies keep buying more.

The issue here is hedging your success on the success of one to carry the others.
How many people were called to the attention of .ly due to bit.ly?
And how many domains were regged in anticipation of riding on the success of .ly?
dot .ly is enjoying the spotlight for now.
Soon something will replace it.
That is why I think, for these exotic extensions, an actual word hack is the better route.
odd kev, i have one that just cleared payment stage for the same amount! What a coincidence! Some buyer is spending spending

Why would you want to register a domain in Lybia? Next to the funny look of a .ly ending the domains won't have any value in the near future. I would always try to invest in domains in countries that have a large internet audience so you have and the value for being a short domain and the value it has in the local market.

Seconded! .NET.BZ is the new next big thing! Go for it!Looks like the next domaining fad. Beware the herd mentality...

Art.US, Film.US, PCcomputer.COM, Torrentes.COM, TradeNSell.COM, & Cosmopolita.COM
2,000 domains for sale! Names2Buy.com
This isn't herd mentality - there are real end user buyers snapping these up, not other resellers. These endusers often use the domains are subdomain services and make money on advertising on the sites.

Single characters? Great!
But stick to popular alphabetics in established extensions, preferably dot com. Choose script according to usage and economic potential. Of course the original ASCII characters are the most valuable, but hell, how am I going to get G.Com?

Please note that any historic offers over a month old are null and void.
I just sold 2.tl/5.tl
the renew fee is only $40
NNN.net/LLL.net/NNN.biz/LLL.biz Wanted
please PM...thanks
I would love to see a list of those sold that are being used by the end user.
It is no surprise at all that bit.ly was registered by the user and not purchased from a domainer. If a domainer owned that they would not know what the hell to do with it but because someone else was interested in it the price would have been $25K.
The same with three letter LLL dot com's.
Unquestionably the majority of them are owned by domainers and parked.
I see .ly being used more for domain hacks than bona fide business purposes.
I would rather go with a L.pl anytime.
"Following the crowd will not get you anything but a view of their backside."
Domain name newsletter coming soon
.PL will be a fortune though, Poland is a reasonably large economy with good use of its own TLD.
