Maybe I can get 1 percent of that for Beijing.BZ then ? !! .. not likely...
Beijing.BZ
I do not think $400,000 for beijing.com to be idoitic price. In fact it might be too low.
I tend to agree that US$400,000 is not outrageously high when newzealand.com's been sold for US$500,000. We all know that China (or Beijing in particular) is a more popular tourist destination (except for recent SARS scare which might really help the sale; they need some promotion, right?) than New Zealand and the Chinese (either the government or businesses) have much deeper pockets.Originally posted by gariben

But please keep in mind that the authenticity of that post has yet to be verified (or could it ever be?)

Hmm ... but that article doesn't show any actual transaction, not particularly when Yun Ye (Ultsearch) got it. Actually, there's a more interesting piece at http://www.hexinsoft.com/articles/article2001-3-22.htm (also in Chinese).

Yun bought Beijing.com for like 7k on Namewinner.com. Whoever thinks he would spend 1M on that domain needs to question their sanity.
Again, do you have a link to that story?Originally posted by draqon

I couldn't even sell heilongjiang.org and liaoning.org for 1% of his .com's asking price. :(Originally posted by bidawinner

No, I don't. I don't normally read or write articles about domains that are bought on namewinner. I will say that I belonged to Namewinner at the time. I knew when the domain was dropping, and I saw the high bids for it.

beijing.com wasn't caught by NameWinner (I think Draqon might be thinking of compare.com, caught for $8K). Beijing.com was caught through MelbourneIT, beating NW bids of $20,000+ (can't recall what it topped out at, as I was outbid at $15,000 in the final minutes).

Let's just see the Chinese government's reaction to this heh.
If it is true, Ults is being very reasonable with its top name. They have over 30,000 that suck big time, so the story goes
