Honestly I am the current owner of NNET,
I had received many 4-figure offers for it from the day that unet.com sale was published,
the best offer till now is 1.7 times more than what I spent, but I don't accept it.

You can see most of them are famous developed sites like:
    cnet.com
    ynet.com (China)
    mnet.com (Korea)
    rnet.com (owned by EarthLink)
    snet.com
    bnet.com

Bottom line: I was happy with the offered amount and accepted.

I paid in the low five figures for the name. Not many would have paid what I did based off of the appraisals I got.
A great example of domain investing, well done.

Awesome finding such a motivated buyer, and yes I agree countering via sedo, where you have no way to follow up with the buyer, on such a big offer would have been risky, best to take the money when it comes in above expectations.

uunet and usenet would be excellent end user uses and brands for this. Only 26 names eh? be interesting to see a reunion class article and wrap up where they all are.

This kind of logic is the reason buying domains for a fair price is so difficult, particularly on sedo. The fact that this domain sold for $100,000 proves exactly one thing: the person who bought it is an idiot. The only exception to this would be if they are an end user with a huge bankroll who absolutely has to have that name for their business and were faced with a typical unreasonable sedo seller, knew they were overpaying and did it anyway. This is highly unlikely so I'm going to just assume they were an idiot.

If unet is 'extremely rare' because there are only 26 L+net.com's 'in the world' then why don't you give me $1,000,000 for qid.com because there are only 26 L+id.com's 'in the world' and qid is an LLL not an LLLL - so it should be worth at least 10 times as much as unet, right? It's extremely rare, even extremer extremly rare than the just plain extremely rare unet.com. Right? Right?? Right???

No. The buyer was an idiot. Sales like this one give sellers false hope and force them to sit on domains they could sell at a decent price hoping that some other idiot will stumble upon their name someday.
