Nice name, not surprised it went over $10k, but going over 50k, even hitting 6 figures is amazing. Rock on LLLL.com's

Honestly I was not surprised it went for $100k,
because there are only 26 "Letter + Net.com" names in the world, so such names are extremely rare.
You can see most of them are famous developed sites like:
    cnet.com
    ynet.com (China)
    mnet.com (Korea)
    rnet.com (owned by EarthLink)
    snet.com
    bnet.com
    .....

I missed that, or I might have bought it... would have fit well in my Usenet business.

You never know man, could've been just another kid investing in llll.com's who sold it to him. Either way, I am sure his markup on profit was nice!

Great sale! It was funny to read the "Appraisals" compared to what it sold for. (link posted by Stuff above) Somebody even said $xxx but did state reseller. Only one said 5 Figures, with the rest at 4 figures or below.

That is not always true, maybe for BATMAN's appraisals but not always true. Most appraisals are based on the reseller value of domains, based on what they would sell to other lowballers, and not to end users.

    Put it this way:

A guy gets a domain which he is not 100% sure of the value of, he is going to sell it soon. Asks for appraisals, and your one of the guys who wants to buy it. Tell the truth and pay a high price or lower the appraisal and get it cheaper?

8 times out of 10 domain appraisal's are wrong! I don't care who did it or who the seller sells to etc. There just is no clear way to appraise domain names. Every single domain, is unique in it's own way.

That is mostly the truth when it comes to appraising for end users. Us, as domainers, have a basic minimum pricing for certain types of names, like VCVC.com - based on certain factors, we give an idea of what the reseller price is, which usually isn't that inaccurate. However, there are really three types of prices:

    - Reseller
    - Reseller paying between reseller and end user being motivated to sell to end user
    - End user

We just focus on #1 too much.

it sold for a great sum and actually i just saw the appraisal thread on np, and unusually that was far more accurate than dnf's

sales like this are rare tbh. i don't doubt value as many have said low-mid xx,xxx anyway

i would have lost out as only would have valued xxxx - 10k max

still the trick is how to hang on for the money.

    come on giode?

cos u only bought in september , an enduser turns up,, how do you hang out for that sort of money? what was the first offer and counters etc?

    please share the knowledge.

    Thanks all! Appreciate it.

Well Predator, I wish I had this secret to negotiating that I could share, but the truth is, this was just a very motivated end-user. In fact, he only made one bid, and that was 100k. Most will think I should have countered, being that it was his first offer, but with sedo it is a risky situation allowing yourself to ask for to much since you may never hear from the buyer again.

Bottom line: I was happy with the offered amount and accepted.

I paid in the low five figures for the name. Not many would have paid what I did based off of the appraisals I got.

As we know, appraisals are not everything, and it seems you should agree with me as we have 3 different types of pricing (reseller, between, end user). You paid in between, knowing this name has great potential for selling to an end user, you researched it, and decided it is worth the risk. You turned in a massive 400-500% profit, and respected that was enough and chose not to risk it any more. It was a wise professional decision, right from the purchase to the sale, as greed can lead to failure.

    Congrats mate
