That is STUPID! This domain will only have any value for another 4-1/2 months. After that, his $8 grand is worth about $25 in reg fees. Some people just have too much money, while the rest of us have to work...

Did you mean Bush, or the guy with the domain?

If you meant the guy with the domain, it would seem he is quite in touch with his principles.

Well said John! Some people who have not seen much money in thier lives look at $135,000 as a windfall. For all the millions these presidential candidates collect, half of which should be deposited for the families of the dead soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The domain names of those dead soldiers are far more valuable. The president and his supporters must buy them to honor their sacrifices.

When most everything in America can be brought by $$$$$, I salute the man for holding his ground.

While this case indeed seems like a matter of principle, unfortunately some domain owners are out of touch with the domain world and the prices.

It is his domain and I dont' think I would be comfortable calling him stupid because of his beliefs, choices or idiology.

    Regards,

    NW

Re: US election domains - extraordinary story.

    I own GeorgeWBush dot info

dot com is owned by the W campaign
    I'm selling mine

But that offer for $135000 seems solid, and it is strange that the person didnt sell.
I cant see how he can really effect anything by holding on to these domains?

I did not start this thread to have a discussion about politics, but about domains - can we keep it on the right track please.

Sorry - the thread got talking about principles - I just gave my opinion.

Personaly, I would not sell my WIPO.org.uk for $XXX,XXX either - despite being on low income.

Some things you cannot put a price on.

It's like starting a thread on a porn star domain and not expecting anyone to talk about sex. Not likely!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're probably right, but all politics discussions on this forum usually end up as pointless slanging matches - maybe I'm just trying to avoid the unavoidable.

I agree ED - This fellow should have taken the money and ran on this Bush domain. This guy took some time on his site though - http://www.bush2004.com/

We picked up PRODEMOCRAT.COM/NET/ORG and PROREPUBLICAN.COM/NET/ORG years ago to make sure we had the bases covered.

That site looks like a mess in the Mozilla browser, with some of the text overlapping other text. It probably uses invalid or substandard HTML.

.org or .info make more sense than .com for election campaign sites, or criticism sites opposing the candidates, since such things are noncommercial informational endeavors.

The guy registered the name over 6 years ago so I suppose you have to credit him with some foresight - although that's all I'm going to credit him with.
