Usa.info and others - What has happened here?

Hi!

I am writing because of a problem with some info domain names!

The names are:

airline.info
auction.info
bank.info
bonds.info
cruise.info
fashion.info
flight.info
florida.info
gifts.info
immigration.info
investment.info
investments.info
legal.info
medical.info
orlando.info
philately.info
shipping.info
soccer.info
stamps.info
usa.info
vacation.info

Status was "PENDING DELETE SCHEDULED FOR RELEASE" until today morning.

I thought there is no way back from this status.

A few hours ago the status of all domain names has been changed to "HOLD" , transfer "prohibited"

Has anybody an explanantion for this?

Best regards

It's actually because the registry is finally releasing the names today to the general public. Those names had disputed sunshine applications 6 years ago. Monitor the drop companies if you want to bid on any.

Even in an extension like dot Info, those price indication seem to be way too low.

Re: Usa.info and others - What has happened here?

It just stinks that it took this long for them to release the names where now prices for .info generics have appreciated by many folds. Ashaws price range my of been correct when they first released the extension- but not now.

The lack of availability of these names has not greatly impaired the ability of those with foresight and vision to make vast fortunes in the interim.

I think the dot info situation has been driven by incompetence. If you want to look a scenario that really stinks, then take a look a dot mobi. Thousands of premiums held back right from the off, and market scenarios that have all the hallmarks of a pump and dump operation.

In other words, those who've been making money will keep making. My problem with the situation is not in letting the market settle and prices established, these names will sell at a hire premium then say if the auctions occured during a post landrush period.

I agree completely with you on this one. Whatever chance .mobi had was faltered by mTLDs incompetancy in how they setup premium allocations. I think that will only hurt the .mobi aftermarket in the long run. As for the pump and dump- well I know alot of domainers that had that mindset entering this extension. I personally have sold off all my 3 letter ones and my generics.

Re: Usa.info and others - What has happened here?

Got this email from Pool;

.......
Dear Mark,

As you may know, today's .INFO drop was expected to be quite large with great domains becoming available for public registration. Please be informed that the .INFO registry, Afilias, has placed a hold on selected domains. Consequently, most of the more popular .INFO domains expected to delete today will not be released in today's drop.

Please note we will keep you updated on the status of these domains as we receive new information from Afilias.

If you have any questions, please contact our customer service team by email at service@pool.com or by phone at +1-613-221-1210.

Best regards,

The Pool.com Team

This bussiness is like the wild west. It seems registrars can just do whatever they want without having to answer to anyone.

Same mail here (instead of the name).

Other information from German domain forum is that some names will be given with fair chances again to the public, but NO information how and when this would be.....

Interesting new information in whois!
