Country: | Interesting:
"Global Domains International achieved 3479% growth in the past five years, ranking #37 on the list of 500 fastest growing companies in the United States, #5 in California, and #2 in San Diego with sales growing from $261,000 in 1997 to $9,341,000 in 2001."
They are still worthless.

The premise for its existence no longer exists. Only those that are logically dysfunctional cannot see this.

Country: | .WS is good for development. Hardly a domainers extension.
I think eventually this will be true about .mobi too
I had blogged about it a little while back - http://www.mwzd.com/2008/01/23/the-significance-of-ws/

With the advent of hundreds of new extensions, Search Engines will be forced to give ranking according to the importance of each extension within each market. WS will be good for development in Western Samoa.

Country: | Well I don't know if you noticed but Google already does but (and here's the catch) for the same term.
So if you own cars.com you'll always rank higher for "cars" but if you own buyawesomecars.com a buycars.ws can beat it in SEO for the term "buy cars".
At least thats what I understand of it.

At least thats what I understand of it. | That is my point. The algorithms are already set up to do this, but at the moment because there are relative few extension, it is a comparatively minor issue. ICANN are budgeting for the addition of about 1000 new gTLDs over the next three years. To get to the top of that lot your domain is going to have to be pretty special. Dot WS just isn't going to cut it. Yes, the Keyword is still going to be significant so crap dot coms won't cut it either. However, domain names are going to become a lot more critical to SEO than they have been previously. Picking up good keywords regardless of extension will be a thing of the past.

And a lot more drop each day. Check website.ws for 'premium' names available now.
Thats what I like about it... hand registered laon.ws a week or so back, no chance of getting that in any other tld cheap.

Country: | .ws never made any sense in the first place. Seriously, who would actually think of 'WS' as 'WebSite'...heck, who would think of it even as 'Western Samoa'?
One extension to me that does sound good (if they ever launch it) would be .Go - Nice dictionary word with a good sense of movement, and short too, and .web
