If you want them to hear you form an association, raise the 1500 with membership fees, elect a representative and have them present your views. With only 50 members you will be heard.
If you are new to domains and looking to buy, sell and learn about domains then you have come to the right place. DNForum is the largest domain name community on the internet and continues to grow every day. There are over 105,000 domainers on DNForum doing everything from buying domains, selling domains, learning about domains and discussing domains. Take a minute and Register.

No, $50/yr is too much. It needs to be less.
I don't want a voice in the Business Constituency, at any price.
Currently, there are 7 constituencies that make up ICANN. For most people in this forum, they'd want to be in the Business Constituency. (as opposed to registries, registrars, Intellectual Property, non-commercial, etc.).
The Business Constituency currently has only about 50 members, as the costs are about $1,500 per year to join. There's a small business category, for firms with sales under $500,000 per year, and their fee is $250, which is probably an obstacle to a lot of small firms interested in ICANN policies. Their website is at:
http://www.bizconst.org/bcmain.htm
So, my question is, if the fee was lowered to say $50 per year, would you join? Please comment in this thread, if you're interested in making the "small business" aspect of the Business Constituency of ICANN more active and vibrant, so that our voices resonate.

Wow.Good idea, Zoobar - shouldn't be too difficult to find 50 people in here that would want to join.
My $50 are waiting.
Theres 2 people. Anyone else?
Well maybe a thread of its own for just that will work better..?
Doesn't ICANN already have a public forum where you can be voiced for free? I have seem them quote from the public forum on several occasions.

I think GeorgeK and zoobar have a great idea--and it would be nice to be part of such a select group.
The forum is free, yes. There are 7 "Constituencies" of the DNSO Names Council, though. See www.dnso.org.
Of the 7 (listed at the top right), the Business Constituency is probably most relevant. There's also a "General Assembly" (see the mailing lists at http://www.dnso.org/mailinglists.html to join it or view its archives), but it has no official voting power. The 7 Constituencies do have voting power.

Is ICANN reformed enough to allow that? Look what happened to the WLS decisionOriginally posted by GeorgeK
The 7 Constituencies do have voting power.Maybe Karl did make an impact on DoC.

I put some bubblegum on this thread. Now it's sticky.![]()
Why waste your money?
Hasn't it been demonstrated that ICANN listens to no one?
I'd join at $250 a year, if you could provide some proof that they'd listen to me, rather than just voting the way AT&T wants them to.
I want nothing to do with the evil ICANN dictators that gaurd the DNS with a stalinist grip.

Unfortunately, as George knows, there are a lot of nutjobs on the ga list, which lessens its impact even more than ICANN's perpetual ignorance.Originally posted by GeorgeK

I think you have a really good idea here.
I am not so sure it is a great Idea...
But for 50.00 I would join, and see what the first year brings...
Anyone dealing names on a serious basis should at least join for a year.

For 50 bucks, I would give it a go for a year.
Track emails that you send, PM me to find out how....
I would join.
