If cooking.com or cook.com don't exist, maybe they can get more traffic. Otherwise they have to spend few thousands to promote their websites .. Well, If they spend $100K for the domain, I'm assuming they have money to spend on advertisement...

Do you not think most advertisers like to promote a sense of quality, with that of value for money?
IMO $100,000 was a bargain for them - indeed value for money.
