    I'll tell you a secret so you don't go banging your head like I did, lol. It's just a basic text editor until you enable the Plugins for your flavor of script/programming language(s). In the toolbar: plugins/plugin manager.

    I agree with the above, notepad++ is definitely the way to go. I do however edit directly from the server in nano or vi if I'm lazy :p

    Ditto on props for Notepad++ (Notepad Plus Plus). Use it for HTML, CSS, or later, for a LOT of other languages (with color and other support for HTML, CSS, C/C++, Java, Javascript, etc. etc.). Easy for beginners, powerful for seasoned professionals.
