How to build a community website?

Hi folks,

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or could point me in the right direction (websites/people/etc) on how to create my own community website such as Friendster, MySpace, Facebook, etc. I would really appreciate any and all information.

Thanks!

Re: How to build a community website?

There is a script called Alstrasoft E-Friends that is really powerful. The script costs about 400$ I believe, and has most of the features friendster has.

Good luck.

There are a few of them, including PHPfox.

You can read about PHPfox and the others in some of these places:
http://www.google.com/search?q=phpfox

Some of those scripts mentioned above don't have clean URLs (for SEO).

Another possibility is to customize Drupal.
Drupal has a huge user community, and an excellent book out by Apress.
