Photoshop7: Logo made Of Text Adjacent To Photo - How To??

In Photoshop 7: How do you attached a picture on the right to stylized text on left (not on the picture). It sounds deceptively easy. Putting text ON a picture and stand alone text are covered well in my old SAMS book but I see nothing specifically about this. I need this for a logo to enter in a script. Its size is about that of a banner ad. Specifically, it is for my name VintageRadio.com, and has an old radio on the left and the simple words 'VintageRadio.com' to the left in Broadway BT, a very deco font.

    Thanks!

If I understand you correctly, you're trying to make a standard banner (possibly 468x60) with a picture of a radio on the right and text on the left.

This can be accomplished in many ways, but using layers is the best method to separate the work space.

One layer should be your background, a solid color or transparent, whichever you prefer. The second layer should be the picture of the radio, you can add the picture by copy/paste (you will need to resize this picture to make it fit to your preference) and the third layer should be the text. If you want the text and picture to be on the same layer, you need to rasterize the text layer.

I can't show you a step by step as I am using Photoshop 6 and the menus may have changed between 6 and 7. If you know a little bit about Photoshop, you should understand what I'm saying and be able to find it. I hope this helps.

That was the problem that I had. I could not figure out how to copy the picture to the 'New' design page. I could do lots with text but everytime that I tried to bring the picture over by using 'control c', I just got something to the effect that the object was empty. I could not figure out how to get the pcture and the text on the same palet. I will look at the above tutorial once I am at home. Most tutorials seem to be about merging pictures, layering of text, text on pictures (not NEXT to them or off of the picture), or layering of custom graphic objects (not photos). A lack of experience is a big part of the picture but this seems like such a dumb, basic thing. I need the logo to go in the 'place your logo' spot in the upper left hand corner of http://www.VintageRadio.com' in the classifieds script that I have uploaded there.

    Thanks!

It seems to me (and my VERY limited programming experience) that the spot where you want the logo to go is part of the template (css, cms) and is, in itself, an image.

You would have to find that image in your script, create a new image to the size of the old (or not), and replace the entire image.

    Hi!

The help here nudged me some. I wasn't using the move tool properly which was a major problem. I had watched on video but the guy assumed that you could actually read the tiny 'You Tubed' screen which wasn't really correct!

Doc COM truly anticipated my NEXT problem! Logo made, the software's manual then says 'Logo - So, how is the “YourLogoHere” image being displayed? Real simple.' Unfortunately, how to change it AND actually have it upload is anything but (for me). Next problem (of likely many). I am learning something some of the time, at least!

You have to find the image file and replace it with the image you want and UPLOAD it.

Again, not a programmer so the geek-speak is NOT in effect (geeks are cool, by the way).

When you uploaded the template, you uploaded all the existing image files as well. BEFORE I upload the files, I usually find the HEADER or simply view the images to find the ones I want to change or eliminate.

I will make the changes and create new art work. I make note of what the names of the files are that I am uploading. I give my new art work the exact same names (or an alternate), give permission to replace, then when the template files are uploaded the new art work goes with it.

here are a couple of examples:
