What are your thoughts on php Link Directory? Are there any other similar scripts that you have had a positive experience with?

    Thanks in advance.

are you referring to PHP or CGI also? I used Gossamer Links in the past, it's expensive but very robust albeit CGI bsed

    Re: directory scripts

More specifically, I want to create a directory of a specific type of restaurants in my area.

Perhaps in this case, a directory script in the traditional sense isn't the way to go? I want some feature which will let users give it a star-rating and/or make comments/reviews about it.

I found a script called ezdining on the web, but it's not really what I had in mind. Does anyone know of a suitable script?

    Re: directory scripts

I just checked out esyndicat - pretty nice - except it will not run on the GoDaddy server I'm on because I'm using Fedora 2 and it uses MySql 3 and I need MySql 4 which is on Fedora 4 or RedHat. Need a higher version of MySQL.

Any others besides Esyndicate and PHPLinkDirectory? PHPLinkDirectory is my 1st choice so far since I don't want to reprovision my server.

phpLD is best one. You can also download ready made templates offered by some members at phpLD forums.

In my personal opinion the In-Portal In-Link setup by Intechnic is very well designed and organized. It is extremely easy to use, and has a lot of features.

To my mind PHPLD, (phplinkdirectory), is the best value for money, and it's written with good SEO in mind, which makes in more attractive to your potential customers too.

I wanted to thank everyone for your support of phpLD. I have been having a tough time logging into this forum, but I think I finally got it figured out now, and will try to be around to answer questions related to phpLD.
