eCommerce script for 'Hiring', rather than just buying?

Hi,

I am looking for a shopping cart that allows us to 'Hire' products rather than sell them.

Can anyone recommend a solution or maybe a plugin for some eCommerce software we can use?

I am looking forward to your replies.

Regards,
Richard

Can you give an example? Not sure what you mean by "Hire" products?

We hire fencing and other products. So a customer would come along, select for what purpose he'd need the fencing for, what dates he needs them and his post code.

So we don't sell, we just hire.

Cheers,

You mean reserving products for a certain time period and then the customer returns them? Like renting?

Kind of, yes. We wouldn't reserve them as such as 99% of the time we will have what they want. Basically it is renting.

It sounds like some sort of tweaked hotel booking system might do the trick.

But I'm not sure why a regular shopping cart couldn't handle that as well?

Have you looked into www.squirrelcart.com ?
