Looking for a wiki clone

I'm looking for a wiki-type clone for a project I'm contemplating.

I'd like it to be simple to use. I've used Dokuwiki before and it is great for a standard user but not that good for backed / admin usage.

I'd love to get a clone of Wikipedia itself but I'm sure that would be way out of my price range.

Does anyone have any experience with other Wiki-type scripts?

Yep, go with this one, straight from the source. If your host account comes with Fantastico, Installatron or Softaculous auto-installers it is included in all of those.

The last time I used it, it was a pain in the butt to set up. However, that was long ago. Not sure if it has improved or not.

It would take a lot of time and effort into establishig a wiki site and I lost interest in persuing it. To install it it would not take much time but it will take quite considerable time to establish it.

That would be true with any Wiki project. My wife is supporting the idea (I'm mainly doing it for her and her friends) but I highly doubt that she'll contribute a lot to it (heck, I'm still waiting on articles for another site from her for the past 3 months!!). But, some friends of hers may contribute to it which could get it off the ground.

The bad part is that it is a .us domain. I sent an email to the owners of the .com and .org (both parked) asking if they were for sale but neither responded. The .net was renewed recently so I'm sure the .org and .net will be renewed, too.
