Or is there a better social networking script. I run a basic music forum right now and would like members to be able to upload photos / videos / chat, etc and my current asp solution stinks so I need to upgrade.
Thanks!

Hi,
I never felt comfortable with any of the scripts that I looked at. The design and programming were problematic, and they had very little spam protection. My site would be fried within a week with the weak spam protection that the scripts provide.
I haven't tried any of the hosted social networking sites, but you may want to take a look at SocialGo. Ning is another big one, but they recently raised venture capital, and with the VCs in there I don't trust them. There was a big brouhaha recently because of the heavy handed way they took over user data and refused to release it. You will have to google to get the details.
Hope this helps,
Rich
I ended up going with PHPFox.. looks like in my opinion its them or Social Engine that are the two best social network php scripts out there. Both are coming out with brand new versions here within a few weeks.
So far the phpfox deal Ive had some plugin vendors who wont return emails so thats frustrating when you are trying to build out a site.
listen guys, with having a social network top 30k with thousands of users,i can tell you ther best out there is jomsocial....forget the rest !
Which other platforms did you evaluate and/or eliminate before jomsocial BritishBulldog?
I'm considering PHPFox at the moment myself.
i think dolphin is also thr in the social networking scripts list and moreover u can get it free......
dolphin is awful, so many bugs. I agree with britishbulldog.
