- Social Networking Script -

Anyone know a good social networking script - Myspace clone?

I did take a look at phpfox and hanshake.

Thank you in advance.

I've been creating professional templates for Jamroom.net software for the past 3 years, I recently released the ProJam range which offer a huge amount of facilities for music/video/image and community based projects:

High-end ProJam, here are some examples:
http://projamlight.oinkba.com
http://projamdark.oinkba.com

They are easy to customize from one CSS file and include step by step instructions for branding and installation. You'll require http://Jamroom.net v3.1 software installed on your server with the minimum requirements which works out at around $200 with unlimited user license.

All templates can be purchased and downloaded instantly:
http://www.oinkba.com

If you need more info contact me "Huw Williams" from the Oinkba site.

Hope this helps.

Type phpfox into Google and read some of the results.

The dates on the reviews are old, but it made me hesitate. I'm still debating whether to try it.

You can also build social networking sites in Drupal, though it requires some customization...

I like to try phpizabi.net but no time to try it out as of yet.

phpfox is also nice option, but I drop it because I hate the upgrade process.

Here's my collection, pm me if you have other scripts not listed here:

One potential issue with PHPibazi from a quick look is that it doesn't seem to have clean URLs ("search engine friendly" URLs).

vB is coming up with a social networking mod. However, last I remember this phpibazi was closed source which really dettered me from trying it. I don't even mind paying for it as long as I can be sure that my site will run even if the company goes bust.

Jamroon looks good - questions:
- Is is for artists only or can it be customized for normal networking site?
- Is the script encrypted
- Does it have problem with large site- Resources?

Thanks,
John

Those aren't my sites -- just examples of what people have done with Drupal.

(I fixed my PM settings and can receive messages now.)

Hi John

No Jamroom isn't just for artists you can do "practically" anything with Jamroom. Along with community project sites I've created art galleries, image file sharing, dating sites, promo and management, video sharing, even a lottery site. It's VERY powerful and is probably the ultimate in Media CMS software. You can configure it so that your users can only see what you want them to.

The software in NOT encrypted, it's MySQL and Smarty PHP based and great on resources, I know of Jamroom powered sites with 100,000 + users without the load sharing option.

Best of all it comes FREE so you can play around with your project and decide what add ons you need.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I was thinking about doing a community site where members share favorite links - and only links, in certain categories. Can Jamroom be modified to:

1) Only allow links?
2) Allow members to leave messages to each other?
3) Control spam, which is a major issue for my site, maybe by using Akismet or Bad Behavior?
4) Check that all links are valid and safe, maybe by using Google Safe Browse API?

Also, is there a very clean theme available?

Thanks for any input that you can provide.

Rich

I use Folkstr for a site of mine, its quite light but they are always developing new plugins and its quite easy to change the script to create a new theme.
