I need a good webmail script to provide free e-mail accounts on a website. I will need it to auto verify new users and allow me to ad banner ads to the top of each page and taglines to outgoing messages.
I wouldn't recommend bigmailbox. You don't get to customize your package and you only get 4 MB of space. You can't add taglines or offer premium membership.
I use Hivemail at the email service listed in my sig, and I feel I must step in and say couple things.
Firstly, for the most part it has been pretty stable and I have tons of users - 8000+, which is really great. However, my biggest complaint is the fact there isnt Pop3 access (users want this badly), and the Hivemail people have been promising this option for a couple years now. It still hasnt happened.
Secondly and lastly, good luck getting support. Make sure you make friends with people who already have Hivemail, so if you have a problem they can help you troubleshoot.
Oh ya! The script is easily customizable, take a gander at emails.net to get an idea (this is not a promotion of my site, simply and example of Hivemail in practice).
I am using Messenger6 from WorldWideCreations on Searchsix.com , I recommend it. Support forum has been very good. A good script for $69 . You can change the sig in each outgoing email , and put adsense or whichever ads in the header.
I'll probably be going with Messanger6. It's down to $59.95 now. Their site says "SMTP or Sendmail." Does anyone know if I can use sendmail for the free users and offer pop3 access for paying customers?
Hallo, I've recently bought Messenger6 and I've got some problems with
installing it...
I'm going to use the script with my domain "emails.cc". However, I do not
have a webhosting package for that domain, it's just a forwarding domain.
My server is "dnbroker.us". So can anyone tell me if it's possible to run the
script with a forwarding domain? Or do I need to install it on a domain which
contains to the server? The problem is that "emails.cc" doesn't have its own
email server. It's a catch-all address which also forwards all e-mails to my
dnbroker.us mail address (I hope you understand what my problem is...)
You will need to have the script set up on your dnbroker.us address hosting , then you can add any amount of domains that you want to the script but those domains will have to be dns (nameservers) to the same server , this is providing your hosting account can have more than 1 domain on it., forwarding wont work from another webhost.

Reason: additional info

Thanks for your fast reply, Searchsix! I will try to do that with the DNS...
I just edited my post to you with a little more info, your hosting account for dnbroker will need to handle more than 1 domain and you will be able to run the script there and add emails.cc to the script using the same nameservers, if it is a single domain hosting package then you cant do it.
Hivemail only Webmail ,cannot support SMtp and POP.
If you are using Linux and Unix and Freebsd,YOu will find thant Hivemail cannot combine Pop and SMtp well.
i will recomment u one.
