basically they give you the script for free, they make money if you add modules. I like phpmotion better than vidiscript particular because it has a forum bridge, which is great for a social community type environment.

These are more or less open source also, and you can modify to your hearts content.

I forgot to mention, there is a member here marketing his developed youtube clone site,

I haven't used it so I cant vouch for it, In theory looks great and has good bells and whistles, like the direct webcam upload feature, just in my opinion over priced on a per license basis, does not offer an enterprise license for unlimited install, and the discount he gives for multiple license copies is a joke.

Now in my opinion the best paid youtube clone script is http://www.clip-share.com/
which one of my friends uses for his site http://godtube.com

I've been very impressed with a new video Hosting script called Clip Bucket (http://www.clip-bucket.com)
Very nice backend which is what many of the free scripts are lacking. I am currenty using it for my startup site http://www.RCTube.tv

the host you use to host these sites must be able to support FFMEG. Thats very important or not you can't convert the videos to .flv

I deal with these all day. 10 bucks gets you vshare and it has a lot of features you might find workable and very flexible. It has the unique ability to host the video on another server without ffmpeg. The free ones mentioned are okay and add a different look and feel. Each has ups and downs actually. I hook blogs using drupal, which also can be a video site with its video plugins.

I found cirtexhosting.com to be good, apthost okay but spotty uptime and infrenion to be the best for uptime and service. I have accounts in two of these and keep backups on other services.

If you make a niche video (no adult stuff) site don't forget to list them at the http://onlinetv.us onlinetv video website guide for free.

On www.Jolted.tv I use Joomla and Seyret, both are free, although I gave a donation and got the pro version. Im sure it could be made similar to ifood.tv depending on template used.

I don't know - I've got several monetization systems to employ once I build some traffic. I'll report on traffic / revenue in about a months time, though I don't expect much by then.

If I don't report, it means it's making Brewster's and I'm not giving any secrets away
