    Re: foreign.net

Mouseover links made the text not readable... I am actually confused since I cannot click on the flag to switch to different SE. Also your contact page is broken.

Also, you have a typo when selecting United State. It brings up a 404 page. It should be index.html, not index.

Thanks for the feedback, my first attempt at doing it myself.
Does the idea strike you as usefull? I intend to add a host of other country searches.

    Re: foreign.net

um.. not really. Why would anyone select a country to get a half page google clone, instead of just using google
No offence, but I can't see the point behind this.

    Re: foreign.net

Thanks Michael, my reasoning is that I, for example like to see suppliers in my own country and know the extension to be co.za so I go to google.co.za and select search South Africa only and get more specific search results but If I want Croatian sites for eg I dont know the Croatian extension.

    Any more comments

    Re: foreign.net

I wouldn't use your service, either. If I want to do a local Google search for a foreign country I'll just go to Google directly, and if I don't know the ccTLD I can still find it via Google.com. Foreign.net is a good domain. It would be better to develop it into a content-rich website with information on foreign countries, global news, etc., in my opinion.

    Re: foreign.net

    Hi Tractor,

The users here in general are to put it mildly fairly well versed in search engine use, searching, etc., what you are aiming at is the mass internet market, to that end your site could well become popular but you will have to think about how you are going to market it. May I echo Dodo 1's remarks to some extent. Think how else this site could be developed, make it useful with information on travel to these countries and local news, build your site with firm foundations and you will find that extensions and conversions are then much easier to achieve in the future.

A good idea, simple, and if marketed properly a usable site.

    Re: foreign.net

Foreign.net should be used for something else. It is a waste to use it for global search engine search. Maybe you can do a global translator using google translate, I will use it because google translate's interface has plenty of room for improvement. There are a lot more impossibilities. Do your research and let us know. Will be glad to give you some feedback.

    Re: foreign.net

IMO it's a waste of a good domain and I wonder how you are going to monetize. I think the name would be good for an expat site with resources for people who want to relocate overseas.
In case you want to sell, companies that offer relocation services may see value in the domain.
I am thinking of a client of mine: http://www.air-inc.com/
Also I think it's hard to get into the Internet search market so unless you have something really innovative to offer I would reconsider the idea.
A directory would already be better imo

    Re: foreign.net

Despite the value of the responses already, its a good idea depending on how you leverage it. Something a lot of the more recent affiliate programs related to adwords/google always reference is doing country specific searches to compare adwords. For newbies your page can make that easier if they can easily compare first page ads between countries. You might be able to drive traffic by sending your site link to product creators to include in their future products or to mail out to their lists, but then there is the question of how you monetize that..... theyre looking for comparison and research, not to click.

    Re: foreign.net

I cant thank you all enough for all your advice and have come up with the following which I would value any further input on.
    foreign.net/test.html
Please have a look at the search results and the "Test Travel" link.
I think I could monetise it quite effectively with adsense.
    Thanks again

    Re: foreign.net

Just one quick comment. There are ip tools out there to detect where users are from. Maybe you can default where they are from and show the correct search engines page.
