    Question FreeTulipPictures.com - Any Comments?

I launched a Free Tulip Picture Site starting out with 60 tulip pictures:

    www.FreeTulipPictures.com

In total, I have pictures (about 300) of over 50 varieties of tulips which I will continue to add to the site; and with each variety of tulip, I have 5 common poses - in essense, creating a photo catalogue of tulips. A 'Garden Map' will outline all the catagories, while 'Picture Gardens' act as photo galleries.

It has Google Adsense on it with search bar. I will become a Flower Sales Affiliate soon and 'plant' (hehe, pardon the pun) Sales Banners throughout the site.

I tried my best at making it good for SEO, with each page having a custom Title, Description and set of Keywords. Each picture and Webpage has a custom, descriptive file name. Even got a cool little Tulip favicon. (-:

Any suggestions on improving SEO? I would like to get Top 10 for 'Tulip Pictures' if possible.

I look forward to any kind of feedback from anyone - Thanks!
(How does the site look? How does it surf? How do you like/dislike it?)

www.FreeTulipPictures.com has now been updated with more pics (over 100 and counting), each with it's own custom page.

I would appreciate any feedback, and even donate 250 $DNF to the first 2 people who provide constructive critiques on:
How the site stands now/What are your 1st Impressions?
How can I make it more SE Friendly and increase Traffic?
How can I better monetize it?

    Cheers!

Strange topic - what motivated you?

    Nice photos.

Adsense sticks out in annoyance but not in clickability factor. Why not a nice strongly curved edged on with a black border and light grey inside with light blue links?

Is there any traffic for this term?

Also lack of hand cursor onmouseover

I'm afraid the news isn't great. Neat idea but the execution really needs some work. OK, here goes...

First and foremost, it is all non standards compliant code. Old school tabular based code that doesn't follow any modern web design practices (xhtml and css for example).

You don't have a doctype or content type on any of your pages.

You've included just about every meta tag under the sun and too many keywords. Most search engines, especially all the majors, completely disregard meta tags so they just need to be simple, short and to the point. We don't need to know who the author is, or what the copyright info is amongst other things there. You don't need to tell the robots to revisit every 7 days... Googlebot will revisit you when it feels like it.

The intro page is completely unnecessary. It only acts as one more step between me and the content I am trying to see. It's also useless as far as SEO is concerned. This is the home page you are presenting to both your human visitors and search engine bots. You need to give them some substance to sink their teeth into or spider.

    You could use a logo.

You have no written content! There's no writeup about your site. There's no info about tulips. When I click on a link to view a specific species, there's no write up on it's tributes, origins, the person responsible for the genetic lineage, etc. etc. etc. You need words to hold your customer's attnetion, but more importantly you need meaningful words to get any kind of search results.

The background is so bright that it makes it very difficult to properly view the information you are presenting. It is also a huge image that takes some time to load.

Once I'm inside looking at your tulip gallery I can't tell what is a link to click on because the hand cursor isn't working when I roll over a link.

When I do click on the pictures to load a specific gallery, the resulting gallery loads full size images into small preview screens. This takes longer to load, wastes bandwidth and looks bad. Images should be sized to the dimensions that you want to display them at.

Only the first row of thumbs seems to be live, the rest can't be clicked on.

But wait a minute! These images also appear to be pulled directly from a third party site... scenery.ca. Are they actually your images? Do you actually own the rights to use these images?

All in all I'd say back to the drawing board on this one. It needs some serious help to ever be effective and to compete in the modern world.
