I've been putting together this Hiking Forum. I would like some recommendations on the current layout. The target audience will of course be backcountry hikers. Thanks in advance.

I would get rid of the default template and get some nice looking skin up straight away to get the punters in.

Just a phpBB installed

If you say add a skin and more boards, we would be able to give a better review

try some different phpbb skin, and make a nice header, this one seems okay, but you can improve on, also increase 2-3 topics .
