    My new redesign?

Well ... this is my first true crack at web design using Photoshop and Imageready ... how does it look?

The old layout looked similar to this one

    Re: My new redesign?

New layout is definitely original, and good quality. The Google ads are a bit tough to read (white on green) but not too bad.

If you want to have some fun in Photoshop, here are a few tips for you:

    1. The drop shadow on the slides does not blend with the green BG. Try this tip: Using the magic wand with a tolerance set to, say, 50 or so, grab the area outside the black borders (including the old drop shadows). Then add a layer style of drop shadow to mimic the previous look, but superimpose on your green background for a seemless look. You could also throw in a white outer glow to match the existing effect, but it would at least be more smooth than the current one.

    2. I like the green slope on the header. I might add this motif in somewhere else on the page too -- just to make it look like it wasn't a mistake or happenstance. Perhaps a white/green diagonal line on the lower right corner of the content area of each page, adding continuity between the bottom "ad" area and the right "slides" area. Or, if you like you can clip one of the corners off the bottom of your box to match this look.

That's all the suggestions I can come up with off the top of my head. Good luck!

In my opinion, the design is horrible. Too much green where it is not supposed to be.

Thanks for the input! Removed some of the green and made the google ads white background, black text.

I don't think the mouseover colour for the links should be white when you are on a white background either.

    A good first attempt.

    Re: My new redesign?

    Hi,

    - I'm not a fan of the green. Especially on the top right part of your site where the text, 'No branding. No fees etc' is located. If you don't change the color of your site, then you'll probably should change the font color to black instead of white.
    - Don't use yellow as a mouse-over on a white background! Go with your mouse over the 'forgot your password?' text and you'll see what I mean. Orange/Green is not a great combo, why don't you use real dark green or black as a font color ?
    - Add text links to your available options as well, on the bottom of the page (above the freebie site buttons). Like this Home | Register | Login | Browse | Donate | Contact, so there's an alternative way to surf to those links instead of clicking the graphics.
    - The text 'Free web Hosting' on the bottom is bold, but the link next to it is not - either make them both bold or none of them

    Hope that helps
