Right now it just has the news and weather feeds implemented.
I didn't want to go out and buy a script for just a small town like this, so I've made my own and building it up with your feedback. Possibly will be better than the rest when it's complete. Please tell me in addition to what I have, what should be added?![]()
well seems simple and this site would have been something nice back in 2000 but now it seems like i am visiting a site in old age . Just my point of view and like you said you dont want to buy a script but you dont have to , there are free scripts out there for example Joomla, Mambo , Wordpress etc , you can use them to make a good up to date sites with various modules and components that are available for free. If you say it hard to use them , there are people who install , set up simple site for $50-$100 and they will instruct you how to update site and content .
I just thought that I'd get back into programming php when I said I don't want to buy one. Creating from scratch is kinda fun too...
Other than that, content wise, what should be added?
Movies in the area, parks, other entertainment... Hospitals... What? I don't exactly know what someone would want to see about a specific town or city.
What do you mean, back in 2000? People still search for City STate. Google lists 60K searches for "denison tx" and 27K for "joe tx" so I think they still have a market. Though, some cities may be more profitable than others.
i am not talking about people searching for state , city related sites but the content itself , the design , the layout that is currently in your site kind of makes me fell we are in web 1.0 . You can simply get free templates or free scripts to use up to date and modern feel rather than as soon as i go to the site, it doesn't attract or get my attention and makes me feel to search for another website with similar content.
As for content wise you can add local attractions, upcoming events, local offices and addresses/phone no. Maybe a video section and local videos and stuff.
I hope i was able to explain what i mean by feeling like back in 2000
Oh ok, I get what you're saying. I agree. I can't design a site, but I can program. I'll get with a designer when the code is complete to implement a Web2.0 design. Thanks for the input on that-- design for now is just a placeholder until the content is done though.
...Done in Frontpage 2000... I should upgrade.![]()
Haven't seen sites like this for sometimes but its actually not that bad. Also it would look better if you center the content. at my browser(FF3), seems a bit tipped to the left.
