The lay out is full of choices and info yet easy to navigate, nicely done. The grey is a little too much though imo, try adding another color somewhere to give it a punch. JMO
I'm impressed.
Who did this site? What programming used (Joomla, Drupal?)
Very clean and easy to navigate. Good color selection. Even looks nice on the crap monitors here at work.
I need something like this for 1776.net.
Very nice!!! But should you put a question mark after Pluto?Pluto is no longer classified as a planet. It is only an icy sphere.
There is still no forum in http://planets.net/forum.htm
Will the PPC rate be higher in comparison to what planets.com is currently using?
Looks great! Glad to see it is coming along. Plan on slapping vBulletin on there?
I like the content and especially pictures.
I think one of the audiences for this kind of site can be high-school students.
If I were you I would prepare different relevant sections for each grade, and
blast an email to all the high school teachers with the proposal to use this
site as a primary resource for the topic. I saw one site that sends emails to
all the k-17 teachers in USA for a fee.
Good luck!
Overall I really like it. Easy to navigate, nice integration of Adsense, good colors for the theme and whats most important imo: it looks authoritative - especially with that domain
I would get rid of the flash header at the right hand (doesnt really serve a purpose imo). The transition doesnt look so smooth from your header bg img (http://planets.net/images/top_bg.gif) to the flash gradient bg.
I wish you good luck and Im sure it will become successful.

welll, I hate to be the only one with a slightly negative comment, but the color scheme used could be a little better.and using <table>'s in design is . to use an cliche, so 1990's.
This is a site in the same area my company did quite a while ago :
http://www.mysolarsystem.com
I don't intend this as a shameless self-promotion -mods, please feel free to remove the URL if you think that's the case- but a simple "what else is out there and how they do they do it" type of thing.
I would recommend you to use CSS and div tags instead.

take a look at this free resource:

I'd also strongly recommend using dynamic page titles like "Mercury - Planets.net", "Earth - Planets.net" etc. Title seems to be one of the most heavily weighted page elements in google and you'll be limiting your ability to rank for terms other than planets.net by not using them.
