    SEO experiement

I wasn't sure whether to post this here or to post it in the SEO section

I've launched a new website as of a couple of weeks ago

The problem is the site was parked for an extended length of time so Google has it on the bare minimum crawl schedule. I learned this after signing up to Google webmaster central. It has yet to be recrawled

now I know that DNForum is like spider food, and that often a new post can be found to be indexed in Google within hours if not minutes from the time of posting.

So this is a little SEO experiment

I want to see how well I've optimized this site for SEO. I think I've done a really good job.

But the new site still has not been crawled by Google so it is not anywhere even in the top 100 rankings.

So the object is to see how quickly and how high the sites position jumps in the SE after this posting

of course all reviews on the site itself are welcome as well

    without further ado

    not that great

the site was already positioned #1 in yahoo for both the singular and plural keyword term, and i was hoping to jump as high in Google

posting the link seems to have been successful in getting the site recrawled relatively quickly, at least within days

before posting the link the site was not ranked in the top 100 results for the search term. now that it has been recrawled it ranks but only position #37

i'm wondering if the sandbox is in play

interestingly the site ranked #3 in bing until i just checked again now and now i cant even find it in the top 100

Nice looking little site! I would make the design a bit more descriptive, for example the visitors should know that if they are clicking on the rings, then they are going to a web shop, so you should indicate this somehow - with a price tag for example. To be honest DNF is only good for getting indexed, but the outgoing link number is immense from here. Also don't forget that DNF is not relevant in any way to nor rings nor larimar... So don't count it as a valuable backlink, for that you should seek for relevant sites.
Sandbox is a killer, I have one site with exact match for the term in .net, couple of months old, completely unique regular updates, yet it is on the 16th (!!!) page of Google. I haven't started SEO yesterday, yet I can't find any sensible explanation on that.

Would anyone mind sharing where to check the ranking in Google?

how quickly you get indexed is not a measure of seo success. good luck with the experiment though.

I understand that. the experiment was not about getting a backlink from DNF or getting indexed. The site was already indexed. The idea was to see how high it would jump in the rankings once it was recrawled. I only posted the link here as i knew it would be one of the fastest ways i could think of to get the site crawled by google, since google spider seems to crawl DNF fast as hell, constantly indexing new posts within hours to minutes.

tetrapak, thanks for the feedback. i will need to make some changes to that sidebar for sure

my general feeling is that google is becoming increasingly harder to rank for just by using an equation like domain+content+backlinks, doesnt seem to be enough

then again, you have sites like ehow and about.com that come up so often in first page results. whatever gives those bullshit sites some authority is beyond me because its usually pretty obvious that the content is nothing but a bunch of keyword stuffed garbage

Those sites will sink like Titanic within a reasonable time, this is in Google's interest. I hope that it will happen very soon, it is just annoying to have better content than the competition while it is not fully acknowledged (ranking wise that is).

tetrapak, do you think a link from here actually hurts the rank? what is your opinion?

If it is not in the links selling section then not, but it is not a strong backlink either. DNF has tons of outgoing links, and your website is not relevant to domaining.
