Country: | Firstly apologies if this is in the wrong category, didn't know where to post? Originally the plan was for myself and a friend to design and build a website for a company for free, then just take a percentage of the monthly earnings as part of a joint venture. I have designed and built a full e-commerce website, including admin tools as a CMS to manage the websites content and products. Circumstances have now changed as my "friend" ruined the relationship with the joint venture company and they do not want to continue. I am now left with a domain and e-commerce website. Is there any way of appraising an un-launched website so I have a ball-park value to sell on to an end user? Obviously it would be easier to evaluate if there was traffic and profit however it has not got that far? Many thanks and I would appreciated any feedback.

Tell them the site is ready to be launched and maybe reduce your cut. I would still make them my prime target of getting rid of the site. Go to them and take their side, tell them your friend was an idiot and you didnt like working with him anyways. Even tell youre friend what youre doing just to make the sale and off the site.

Country: | Hi, thank you for your thoughts. I'm in discussions with the same company however they keep asking me to value the design/development - not sure whether just to calculate how many hours I've spent on the site by my hourly rate, make up a price or see if anyone evaluates websites? Many thanks

| Platinum Lifetime Member | How much do you value the work you put in to it? What would I have to pay you to do that, and at the quality that you have now? Then ask yourself what it would be worth to them. Now pick a number in the middle of that and you won't be leaving any money on the table and also won't mind keeping it if they low-ball you. Good luck!
