home rate help - Results 1 - 10 of about 33,300,000 for home rate help.

mortgage rate news -Results 1 - 10 of about 21,200,000 for mortgage rate news.

My Question, does the competiveness of keyword via how many results show up in Google help to determing how friendly my URL is for optimization

Am i better off focusing on branding, like nationalmortgage.com rather than picking keywords in the hope I get better optimization

Any input would be appreciated

its not important how often the term is used (google results). it is important how often the term gets searched (overture / google traffic estiminator).

if you have the money to build a brand, look for a unique, non-generic name.

usually you dont have the money..
then you are better with a keyword-domain.

so my input would be:
pick keywords, but pick the right ones.

Number of results isn't as important as competitiveness of keywords.

How does this relate to Search Engine Positining? direct type-in direct?

Also, hypens in domains?

Trying to figure this out to figure out so I know which domains to register

it doesnt help if you are #1 on google for a term which isn't searched.
you therefore need to find out, what terms people are searching for.
in the example of "home rate", #1 search term is "home equity loan rate".
if your site is on #1 on google with this term, you would get a good amount of traffic. beeing #1 for the term "australia" would bring more visitors to your site then beeing #1 for the term "syria" – because of the larger market / more searches. but as better the keyword gets, as more competition you will face to get on the first page of google-results. ideally you have to find keywords with high seach volume and little competition (almost impossible).

seach engine positioning always relates to a keyword. in the end, the only thing that matters is how many visitors you get from which keywords. if you want to make a travel site for people traveling to australia, you have to rank high in "your" search terms. if you are on the first results page for australia, hotels in australia, flights to australia and so on, then you will get lots of targeted visitors to your site. it wouldn't help to be #1 for syria, if you want to offer hotels in australia.

beside of that, you have to consider the "value" of the term itself. 1.000 visitors looking for a loan are "worth more" than 10.000 visitors looking for free web design templates.

a keyword domain will help you in terms of ranking. but especially in valuable fields like loan, porn or gambling with high competition, it is only a small part of the whole seo-process.

regarding hypens:
seo-wise it shouldn't make much difference.

the tools i use are:
yahoo overture
google traffic estiminator
google keyword tool
google trends

all these tools give you some information you will need to find better keywords. but there are also other tools like wordtracker, etc..

the list i posted is from overture, but keep in mind that ovt doesnt distinguish between singular and plural – for this you have to use common sense.

Keywords in the domain name is one small factor in rankings. Using hyphens or exact match domains are ideal. The important thing is to have the targeted keywords in the name.

no.. it helps ranking your project, but it doesnt generate type-ins (and therefore visitors) by itself.

domains bringing visitors without any work are already registered or very hard to find (you probably could snap one). in your situation its better to concentrate on one single domain.. of course, if you have the money, you can always buy good domains... (in here, at auctions, by contacting the owner, at sedo, etc..)

your domain should describe your service / the content.. and ideally it should be a search term (you can check that with overture) on the same time.

yet it ranks 11-20 out of 420k results for search term "Premium Domain Names" in google.

I am going to PM you a couple of keywords that you can start building on,theres not a lot of searchs done on them but you "could" rank in the top 10 on google

#1 has a 178 searchs (in a 120 day period),has 63700 pages listed as found ,but ONLY apx 783 are really competing for rank on the keyword.I also noticed that the #1 and # 2 positions only have a few backlinks and are PR3 and Pr5 (By the way adsense pays$12.33 for this word)
With a little hard work you could rank very well for this one word.


#2 has 160 searchs 130,000 pages found,but again only apx 651 sites that are really interested in ranking for this word.I find that it has Pr4 pages
the top spot only has 7 backlinks.Easy pickings! it pays $17.96 per click



Just to show you a comparsion
the K.W. mortgage rates has apx 3430 searchs daily,41.5 million pages found with 930,000 sites that are very serious about ranking for that word.backlinks range from thousands to several hundreds for the 1st few spots with PRs of 7
This is a 800 pound gorilla to try and beat... no way
