It could have been in redemption period and renewed at last minute.

But, the WHOIS data shows a recent "created" date indicative of a recent name transfer. Typically the only time the name will not show a new create date is when the name is kept and renewed at the same losing registrar.

Definitely worth looking into since Pool and other drop-catch services have had their share of controversies in the past. The owner where this name now resides has 22,808 other domains.
