So any idea what happened to it? End user renewed it? Or did one of the drop catchers keep it for themselves?
I didnt even see it, maybe just renewed and went private OR tucows kept it.
I bet just renewed.

I don't see how it could have been renewed when it was in pending delete.

This domain did not delete.
This should have been a Namejet prerelease domain since it is with Tucows.
Also I saw this:
Registration Service Provider:
in2net network inc.(Domain Division), hostmaster@in2net.com
Seems like some company owned by one of the dropcatching companies got the domain.
As far as I know once the domain hits the 5 Day Pending Delete status it is not reversible.
As to what went on here I have no idea. It looks to be like there is some BS going on one way or another.
This domain should have deleted. The registration date should be that date. How it kept the 1997 date and did not drop I have no idea but it needs to be explained.
When a domain is in Pending Delete Phase, no one is allowed to renew the domain and it cannot be yet registered because its still not returned to the public domain pool. After the 5-day Pending Delete Phase the Registry will release the domain name back into the public pool of available domain names enabling fresh registration.

So now the question, if the owner didnt renew, why did they let a $20k purchase drop?
At the worst the domain was in redemption, but not registry pending-delete.
I have seen Tucows repossess domains even after they let them into redemption.

Yes tucows runs yummy domains, guess where they get their domains lol Not against it just sayin.
One example: adulthosting.net entered redemption a while back then was 'rescued'. And it is now available on yummynames.com.
