Shameful management and service at NameJet

This is my first negative review of a company I have posted but feel the need to tell other domaineers about a company they may end up doing drop auction business.
I submitted a bid for a name where I became the high bidder. I then submitted a Proxy bid for a higher amount. Then (my fault) realized this was a typo domain and I was no longer interested especially at the potential proxy bid price I had entered. I contacted support and stated I would like to remove my proxy bid but that I would honor my original bid that was currently the high bid. Tech support wrote back sorry. I advised ability to reduce a proxy bid is a basic function on 99% of all auction sites and asked them again. Answer from DomainJet. Sorry. Ok I call the office and ask for management. Tech support says they will contact them and have them call me. No call back. I email ask for a contact number for management. Answer “I am sorry but I will not be able to provide that to you…” Ok, NameJet management is now hiding behind its tech support. This is a bad sign for everyone who may have to do business with this company. They the management of NameJet does not wish to speak to its customers. Perhaps they will respond to this post… Highly recommend you do not deal with this company until they offer basic services (proxy bid management) and management is not afraid to speak with customers.
Email flow below.

Hello
I am sorry but I will not be able to provide that to you. They are awear of this case. They have told me that all bids stand. Proxy or user entered.
Thank you
Bridgett

Please provide me the phone number for the management at NameJet.com. I want to be able to speak with them and let them know the situation before I but out negative feedback on NameJet.com at DNForum.com

Regards,
Bob

Response (Bridgett) 02/13/2008 06:41 AM
Hello
I am sorry but I will not beable to remove your proxy bid. All bids are final. We are not able to go in and change bids after the auction has started.
Thank you
Bridgett

Customer (Robert) 02/12/2008 04:37 PM
I'm not interested in you changing my current bid I want you to change my max bid back to my original. Snapnames and every other domain auction site offers this function. If you cannot make this happen I'll be very glad to stop using your site and advise other domain buyers of this flaw in your site as well.

Regards,
Bob

Response (Bridgett) 02/12/2008 07:41 AM
Hello
I am sorry but because the auction has already started I will not be able to change your bid. All bids are final.
Thank you
Bridgett

Personal Info edited...
Additional Details:I am willing to honor by current bid but would like to reduce the max bid to my original bid amount of $69 as I just noticed this is a typo domain and not a correctly spelled domain.

Sorry to say, but Namejet's stance is probably the same as mine, make sure you know what you're bidding on before you hit that submit button.

It's happened to me before and I had to suck it up an pay for the name.

Why is it terrible? I find their interface very easy to use. I have gotten about a dozen names from them with no problems.

I have to agree with DD.

You didn't realize the domain was a typo and placed a bid on it based on what you thought it was worth and they won't reduce the price because of that.

Where did they go wrong? I see that they're not giving you contact information for management. Why should they? I never give out my supervisor's information but I do pass on the person's information onto my supervisor which is what it seems that they are doing.

Frustrating? Hell yes, but I don't think they did anything wrong.

My issue is that they do not offer proxy bid management. At no point did I say that would not honor my current high bid. I was looking to change the proxy bid lower so that in the event bidding went higher I would not be held liable for a proxy bid that had not yet been invoked.

The second point is that when it came to talking with someone about this problem they would not connect me with a supervisor nor would a supervisor contact me. That's just bad anyway you look at it.

I accept I screwed up on the initial bid. But after that it was just bad business on their part.

If you want to work with a company that hides from you when you need them NameJet is your company.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention DD. NJ should add this feature. It is very easy to add an extra digit to a bid especially in last minute auctions.

Namejet is full of bugs and clueless support.
Support is even worse during weekends.

Can't remove a domain after you add a backorder. This is a new addition. Namejet won't allow you to remove a backorder anymore after you place it, even if it is not prerelease.

I compare to snapnames...it is night and day.

I find name jet very hard to search; no matter what name you go after...there is always a mystery bidder bidding up the names; sometimes names just disappear or pending renew partner names somehow never make it to namejet....just to scratch the surface.

I feel they are a company who cares nothing for their customers...I just don't want to spend my money there....and I know they don't care. It is very rare that I will try to get a name from them...I do a lot more work now and look for names before they go into drop stages and negotiate with owners....it is less expensive and I am glad I am not spending money with them.

had two names just disappear on me today. dropping names that i was shocked to be the only bidder on. checked back later and they were no longer in my backorder list, and now adding them comes up as status wish list. something fishy. bid on them at snap as well, so we'll see.

Nothing fishy. When they try to get the names, you can't see them in your account.
This happens every day.

Actually there are some domains that are paid for by their current owner. They are taken off the list.

this must have been while they were trying to grab them - kind of confusing. picked them up at snap, so no worries.

Its happend to me as well, pool managed to get them instead. Also many names can be taken back by the old owner while in redemption.

Nothing fishy at all, they do their best to get 'em.

I think Namejet has some serious issues with their site. Why is it that you cannot remove a backorder ater it is placed. This is a recent change of policy and is ridiculous, no other Dropcatcher has this policy.

Also Prerelease domains not showing up in search, wth

Namejet cannot bill my credit card.

This same credit card had been billed without any problems by other sites. I'm sure i filled in the correct information.

Supports says (with wrong grammar and mistyped) Namejet is blocked by the bank, but my bank says they did not see any blocking attempts specifically against NJ.

I have lots of problems at nj with my credit cards too. Only one out of three works reliably. I'm pretty sure it's an AVS issue.
Snapnames is more flexible and you can pay with paypal/wire even for amounts below 5K.
I hate namejet and their growing pains
