Register Today on DNForum IT'S FREE!I have placed a backorder on a domain in SnapNames which is the est. auction date is within these few days. However, when I access the WHOIS record of the domain, it shows:
Domain Name: ???.TLD
Created On:13-Jul-2002 19:30:14 UTC
Last Updated On:17-Aug-2006 06:55:20 UTC
Expiration Date:13-Jul-2007 19:30:14 UTC
StatusENDING DELETE SCHEDULED FOR RELEASE
Status:HOLD
It shows that it will expire next year... so does it means that I am placing a backorder on this domain for next year.. not the est. auction date as shown in SnapNames.. getting confused here![]()
Yes it's normal - Snapnames has renewed it already, that is why you see the expiration for next year. They basically purchase the name and then transfer it to you. So to answer your question, no you don't have to wait a year to get it (provided you win the auction). Hope that helps...

Thanks Kingpin, I appreciate your help![]()
Snapnames acts as the auction agent for a number of registrars.
They do not purchase the domain and renew it.
For example, Network Sol. renewed the domain after the owner did not renew it.
SN auctions it off for Network Sol. And, SN receives a percentage of the sale.
