    Considering creating new reseller/registrar service

Well, I'm about to create my own reseller domain services, which will allow me to sell domains to everybody and then I will switch to ICANN as soon as possible, and become a new registrar.

I'm a webmaster and I know it's important to find a good site to place domains. Which features do you think you could need? Which price you will pay?

    Thanks.

    Nobody answered yet? That's strange..

    Actually YOU don't need much.
    a) good control panel
    b) good features included in the price (DNS change, forwarding etc)
    c) good security that you will not go tits up or get hacked
    d) good price (under $7 will do) ev1 can do it for $6.49 so $7 can be done
    e) pay by Paypal or CC
    f) could offer reseller accounts

Do good job and you will hardly need support people.
Do quantity registration with little mark up 30-50 cents
Don't be greedy, do good job and you will succeed!

You can tap in to another income/revenues as well (banners, ads, selling/buying/auction domains etc)

Competitive pricing and security (and reliability !) would come on top of my list. I would consider $8 for .com to be competitive (not the cheapest but you often get what you pay for).
It depends on what kind of people you are targetting, are you targetting the average john doe like GoDaddy or the more savvy users like, I would say, Moniker.
Most domainers here will not accept the fees of network solutions or register.com ($35/y).

If you want to operate internationally having a multi-language control panel could attract more users. For example DirectI has a CP in about 6 languages.

Good and responsive customer support. An unhappy customer can lose you ten other customers.

Now, on a more realistic note, the business is cut-throat and the margins are thin. The registrars get more revenue with ancillary services like Hosting, paid domain extras, catching/selling dropping names, domain brokerage etc.

If you own a large portfolio (in the thousands) I would say it is a good idea to be your own registrar. It can also be a good idea if this complements your net-related activity but quite honestly I think you will have a hard time making good money in this industry, and you have competition.
Best of luck with your endeavours.
