I am looking at a domain that is registered with melbourne IT but the WHOIS records for them do not have creation date, just last update date.
How can I determine the original first-registration date or even the creation date by the current registrant?

I should have been more clear. I did check DomainTools which had no more info than the MelbourneIT registry had, AND it's a com.au domain so Verisign is useless (again).

I'm not familiar with .au domains but it looks like the registry is not returning creation date either.
